There are four components in caring for and maintaining your hand knotted Oriental rugs. I will discuss each of these in order.

Vacuuming:

Catch sand and soil on the surface of the hand knotted Oriental rug BEFORE it has a chance to become deeply embedded into the rug. Use door walk-off mats.

Try to vacuum a minimum of once a week, preferably with a brush and beater bar type vacuum cleaner. For a lighter cleaning, perform 3 strokes over a given area. For a much thorough cleaning, perform 3-7 strokes over an area.

Pads:

Use a high quality, non-skid pad if your hand knotted Oriental rug rests on hardwood, tile, terrazzo, or hard surfaced flooring. This insures your safety, plus guarantees a longer life for your rug by absorbing the shock of the traffic on it. When using a hand knotted Oriental rug over wall-to-wall carpeting, no underlay is needed since the wall-to-wall carpeting acts as a cushion. If however you experience your oriental rug wrinkling or bunching up, a special rug stabilizer can be placed between your hand knotted Oriental rug and wall-to-wall carpeting.

Cleaning:

RugSpa Professional Six-Step Deep Immersion Wash Process.

Has your hand knotted Oriental rug been cleaned in the last three years? If not, let us inspect it and determine if it is in need of cleaning. Rugs vary due to the amount of traffic received and the location that they are used in. Some need cleaning sooner than others. Check them yourself by rubbing a dry white cloth briskly on the center of the rug’s surface.

After five years of use, all hand knotted Oriental rugs are ready for a Professional Six-Step Deep Immersion Wash Process at the RugSpa. We provide FREE nationwide shipping.
